Welcome to Our Yadikya Golf Club

The Yadikya Golf Club is an informal club established over eleven years ago and has steadily grown in numbers and stature over the years. Currently over 40 golfers participate in this group, and at least twenty play each week. You can find the Yadikya's playing at the Altadena Golf Course every Saturday.

This web page provides an opportunity for the Yadikya's to share their successes with each other, and will allow the members to keep up to date on the weekly competitions that occur, along with each members standing as we move toward awarding the infamous Yadikya Cup at the end of each season on June 30.

This group of golfers has been known to informally plan outings to places such as Laughlin, Nevada for golf and family fun. They are going to Santa Anita Race Track as a group. They have parties together and they have enjoyed Super Bowl at Damon's Steak House together. The Yadikya's have supported charitable golf tournaments through their group participation and sometimes through donations. This site will allow members to know about coming events on the site calendar.

It is interesting to see how such an informal group can establish its own policies, practices, and group recognition without much of the turmoil that often occurs in other golfing clubs. If you ask any of the members, they will tell you that they are proud to call themselves, "YADIKYA" members.

We look forward to sharing your self description on this blog in the near future. Please send your own self censored comments to our CIO, Larry T. at larry.tash@gmail.com and you will see your self description up on our blog in the near future too.

August 14, 2010, a Yadikya FourSkin Day

It is hard to believe that one golf Saturday is any different than anyother golf Saturday for Yadikya members. They are all about fun and camraderie and golf. What else could anyone expect from this group of guys? Well, on this beautiful August 14, 2010, a special outcome occurred that is rare in the annals of Yadikya History. This was a "FourSkin" Day. For Yadikya's having a "FourSkin Day" is like our country celebrating Independence Day, or our City celebrating Cinco de Mayo. A "FourSkin Day" where four members each won a skin, is a symbolic representation of our very existance as a group of golfers. Let us all take a moment to reflect on this "FourSkin Day" and think about how appreciative we are of having such good Yadikya friends to spend a Saturday morning with each and every week. Let's also use this day to remember those Yadikya's who came before us and will come after us to make this social group special, fun, and certainly unique.

Yadikya Standings as of August 2010

As of August 14, 2010, here are the early results in our Race to the Yadikya Cup for the 2010-2011 golf season. These early results show some different names in the top couple of places. The Yadikya's have set up a system that is fair and entertaining for all of the members. Playing a lot helps you to qualify for the Yadikya Match Play tournament later in the year, and allows you to be eligible to win one of many awards at our annual awards event.

Is a Hole-In-One an Eagle?

The discussion of whether a hole-in-one is an eagle has been part of the parking lot conversation for several weeks. The Executive Board is seeking your input on this question. It comes down to this, if someone gets a hole-in-one, do they win the eagle pot as well as the hole-in-one pot?

Some people believe that they should be kept separate, but the final decision will be made by the executive board leadership after being influenced by the input of the remaining club members.

Give your input before it is too late. You can add it to the blog, or you can go directly to any of the Board members. Be sure that if you speak to a Board member that they care enough about the question to listen to you!

Yakidya Golf Moves to Eaton Canyon for One Week

Although our home course always is and will continue to be Altadena, where they treat us very nicely, thanks to club pro Kevin, we did have to move to Eaton Canyon for a Saturday morning round. The sixteen members had a great time with the brief course change and found another hospitable site that willingly puts up with the Yadikya Humor. Several members suggested that we have some other outings as a group in the future. We have members playing at DeBell and Hansen Dam during the week. We have members who participate occasionally in charity golf competitions at other sites. So, overall our Saturday morning life at Altadena is about as good as one could expect with a guaranteed starting time at 9:00 a.m. every (almost) Saturday.

See you all at Altadena. Remember points are already accumulating for the next year winners of the Yadikya Cup and its baby spawns (positions 2-10 in the final club standings).

By the way, for those of you who did not hear, Chuck T was awarded the Horses Ass Award at our annual awards luncheon for last year. Chuck will now identify the winner for next year of this perpetual trophy.
