Here are the latest results for Yadikya's as we come to the end of another great calendar year. Remember the more you play the more points you accumulate. Those end of season Yadikya trophies are worth all of the golf and friendship that you find on Saturday mornings at Alta Dena Golf Course. Good luck everyone.

Yadikya's Play in the Rain and Share Christmas Cheer
Season's Greetings to all you Yadikya Golfers and Friends,
In case you were wondering about today's play, yes there were seven brave souls (golfers) that went out in the rain and wind, and played nine holes. Should I write "congratulations" to those individuals or as Jay Leno stated to Hugh Grant,"what were you thinking?" Chuck, John, Mike Acosta, Ron, Rich Leon, Al B., and Gordy. They played "best ball" today, and the lucky winners were: Gordy, Rich, and Al.
I guess most of us are not the "die hard" golfers we thought we were. I dropped by to say hello, and in case you all were wondering we gave out the Holiday gifts to all the hard working staff at Altadena. They were all very appreciative, and also send their best for the holiday Season. I'm not sure exactly when play will resume, but if any of you want to play during the week before Christmas let our head Dik, Chuck Trudeau know.
"The Seven Diks" - Give them a big hand or laugh when you read this!
Happy Holidays,
Your "Official" CRO,
Rich Tellez

Happy Holidays from the Yadikya Staff
If you have not yet received your Yadikya Holiday card, keep an eye on your mailbox. If you don't receive it before Christmas, let Rich T know so we can get your address. You will receive a special gift from your favorite golf club.

A Favorable Lie
We often complain about where our ball stops and how the location makes it impossible for us to get a birdie or a par. You won't feel so badly after watching this video.

August 14, 2010, a Yadikya FourSkin Day
It is hard to believe that one golf Saturday is any different than anyother golf Saturday for Yadikya members. They are all about fun and camraderie and golf. What else could anyone expect from this group of guys? Well, on this beautiful August 14, 2010, a special outcome occurred that is rare in the annals of Yadikya History. This was a "FourSkin" Day. For Yadikya's having a "FourSkin Day" is like our country celebrating Independence Day, or our City celebrating Cinco de Mayo. A "FourSkin Day" where four members each won a skin, is a symbolic representation of our very existance as a group of golfers. Let us all take a moment to reflect on this "FourSkin Day" and think about how appreciative we are of having such good Yadikya friends to spend a Saturday morning with each and every week. Let's also use this day to remember those Yadikya's who came before us and will come after us to make this social group special, fun, and certainly unique.
Yadikya Standings as of August 2010
As of August 14, 2010, here are the early results in our Race to the Yadikya Cup for the 2010-2011 golf season. These early results show some different names in the top couple of places. The Yadikya's have set up a system that is fair and entertaining for all of the members. Playing a lot helps you to qualify for the Yadikya Match Play tournament later in the year, and allows you to be eligible to win one of many awards at our annual awards event.

Is a Hole-In-One an Eagle?
The discussion of whether a hole-in-one is an eagle has been part of the parking lot conversation for several weeks. The Executive Board is seeking your input on this question. It comes down to this, if someone gets a hole-in-one, do they win the eagle pot as well as the hole-in-one pot?
Some people believe that they should be kept separate, but the final decision will be made by the executive board leadership after being influenced by the input of the remaining club members.
Give your input before it is too late. You can add it to the blog, or you can go directly to any of the Board members. Be sure that if you speak to a Board member that they care enough about the question to listen to you!

Yakidya Golf Moves to Eaton Canyon for One Week
Although our home course always is and will continue to be Altadena, where they treat us very nicely, thanks to club pro Kevin, we did have to move to Eaton Canyon for a Saturday morning round. The sixteen members had a great time with the brief course change and found another hospitable site that willingly puts up with the Yadikya Humor. Several members suggested that we have some other outings as a group in the future. We have members playing at DeBell and Hansen Dam during the week. We have members who participate occasionally in charity golf competitions at other sites. So, overall our Saturday morning life at Altadena is about as good as one could expect with a guaranteed starting time at 9:00 a.m. every (almost) Saturday.
See you all at Altadena. Remember points are already accumulating for the next year winners of the Yadikya Cup and its baby spawns (positions 2-10 in the final club standings).
By the way, for those of you who did not hear, Chuck T was awarded the Horses Ass Award at our annual awards luncheon for last year. Chuck will now identify the winner for next year of this perpetual trophy.

Yadikyas Show Well at Knights of Columbus Charity Tournament
Led by the almost hole-in-one by Big Tom A., the Yadikya's represented themselves well at the Knights of Columbus Charity Tournament held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 on the San Dimas Canyon Golf Course. Although Tom did not get the hole-in-one which was worth a lot of money, he did pick up some prize money for pulling off the closest to the hole shot.
When it comes to raffles, anyone who has ever participated in a raffle when Chuck T is present, knows that he will take away a good share of the loot. I don't know if he spends thousands to win the hundred dollar prize, or if he is just the luckiest winner we all know. Once again, Chuck was the big raffle winner. I hope that our members looked out for those of us who could not stay around. Did Ed Z win anything? If so, was it his ticket or a ticket asked of him to watch in case I won but couldn't be there to grab it myself? If I didn't win with Ed Z, then next year all of my raffle tickets will be held by Chuck, who else?
This annual event has been enjoyed by a lot of our members over the years, and at the same time we are able to help a worthy cause. Our Secretary, Rich T. does good work for this organization, and while we support the charity, we also support our Rich T. Thanks Rich for giving us the opportunity to participate and enjoy a great steak lunch and a great deal of friendship within a comfortable environment. We are already looking forward to the event again next year.

Who's That Lady?
"To be sung to the song, Who's That Lady by Santana and the Isley Brothers (and others)"
So, who’s that lady,
Golfing lady,
Unknown lady,
Swinging lady?
See her sitting with us all
Wondering what’s the story
Is she friends of the Yadikyas?
She golfs, but no one tells us…
Who’s that lady?
We all saw her in the first fivesome, making it a sixsome, and spent the entire round wondering about her. So, Chuck are you going to answer the question?

Yadikya Party
Our Head Dikya, aka Chuck T, and the executive committee dikyas, have decided that the 2010 end of the year party and awards lunch will be held on Saturday, July 10th at the Mi Casita Restaurant following our regular round of golf. Trophy, including the Yadikya Cup, and special recognition for the year will be announced and awarded.
This is a great restaurant because of the great food and because it gives us privacy for acting like ourselves without bothering the regular population of the East Valley. Lunch will be dutch treat from the restaurant menu.
See you all there on July 10.

Increased Drink Prices at Altadena Golf Course
Starting Saturday May 29, 2010, due to raised prices at Altadena, the "free" drinks will incur a surcharge:
$1 for large or premium (sam Adams) beers
$2 for mixed drinks
Money goes into drink fund.
We have been coming up short and found that they raised prices. Instead of raising the $10 for everyone, only the drinkers will be taxed!

Chuck, the CEO, Gets Hole in One
April 24, 2010
Our CEO, Chuck, got his second hole-in-one this year. However, this was his first while playing with Yadikya. Yep, the hole-in-oner had to buy drinks for everyone. After the bill of over $300 was paid, Chuck did okay. Congratulations Chuck.
May 1, 2010
Many of the Yadikya members supported the Make A Wish Foundation with nice donations to the cause. Rick B actually hit his T-shot on Number 4 inside the circle and earned a bonus from the foundation. Once again many Yadikya members were not just playing golf, but helping others who are less fortunate.
May 8, 2010
The semi-final matches for the Yadikya Match Play tournament will be played. This year's winner will be honored on this web page later in the month of May. Good luck to all who are still in the running. Thanks Rick B for putting on this annual tournament.
June 2010
Many of the Yadikya members will be supporting the Knights of Columbus later in June. This charity golf tournament has been a memorable annual event that many of our members support. It is interesting to see how many of the raffle prizes are taken home by Yadikya members. This year the tournament will again be played at the San Dimas Golf Course. If you are interested in joining in on the fun and having the great steak meal following the tournament, contact Rich T on Saturday or by e-mail.

You Don't Have to be a Golfer to Love This Story
Thanks for sharing this story, John.
For the past few days, while I tried to enjoy one of the greatest golf tournaments in the world, all I was entertained with was the Tiger Woods show. As soon as one golfer would hit a tee shot or make a putt, it seemed that the next view would be that of Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods just missing a putt that would have put him in contention with the other golfers. Tiger Woods hooking his drive which showed how his time off had hurt his game. Tiger Woods trying to “respect” the game. How it seemed that the Tiger was able to put his past transgressions behind him and was able to concentrate on the job at hand. It just kept going on and on about Tiger this and Tiger that.
On the other hand, a little miracle was occurring at the Masters; one golfer just kept smiling. He smiled if he made a good drive, or if he made a bad drive. He smiled if he made a 50 foot putt or missed a 5 foot putt. As he walked between holes, he smiled and shook hands with the crowd. He never cursed a bad stoke or blamed another person for a miss. All he did was smile. Why would Phil Mickelson be smiling? Here was a man whose wife has breast cancer. Here was a man whose mother has breast cancer. Here is a man who rather than allow his wife and mother to fight this battle by themselves, took time off from the PGA tour to be with them. Here was a man that returned to the game he loved when his wife ordered him to. Here was man, who was so glad for the miracle that was happening as his wife moved closer to a cure, that he rewarded her oncologist by allowing him to be his guest caddy at last week’s golf tournament. This move, which could have cost Mickelson thousands of dollars in purse money, was his gift to a man he knew he could never thank enough for what he had given to him. During the last round today, Phil’s wife was staying in their hotel room since she was still weak from the chemo treatments she is receiving. Phil did not know as he walked up to the 18th tee that his wife would be there. All Phil did was smile. He smiled to the crowds, he smiled to the TV audience, he smiled to God. After his last putt found the bottom of the hole, he hugged his caddy and others and walked to the scorer’s shack. He then gave the biggest smile of the whole four days. He saw his wife, and even in the midst of thousands of people, it seemed that only two were there.
Tomorrow I am going to smile. I am going to smile if it is nice weather or bad. I am going to smile at the driver who honks his horn at me, or the driver who cuts me off. I am going to smile if I get the order or not. And when the day is done, I am going to save my biggest smile for the person who makes me complete. Then I am going to look to the heavens and give thanks for being able to smile.
Thanks Phil!
God bless you and your family. And keep on smiling!
